ZONE CONFERENCE- MCLEAN & OAKTON 5-2010

We had a wonderful Zone Conference with the Mclean and Oakton Zones. It was held on Monday, May 10, 2010. Great leaders and great missionaries. The zone leaders are Elders Johnson and Jeppesen in the Oakton Zone and Sackett and Jones in the Mclean zone. Elders Johnson and Jeppesen gave a great presentation on "qualifications for having the Companionship of the Holy Ghost by having the missionaries turn to D&C 121 and listening for the Do's and Don'ts-very effective. Elder Barrett and Sis. Banks gave talks on the mission and power of the Holy Ghost. Then Elders Sackett and Jones gave a presentation on Effectively preparing a member for an investigator lesson and involved the group in discussion. We had a beautiful musical number by Elders McGill, Johnson, Sackett, and Searcy. It never fails to amaze me how these missionaries put together incredible numbers so quickly and sound great. The AP's skill practice was beautiful, very spiritual and touching. It helped us all learn the importance of listening to investigators and letting the spirit help you discover their needs.

ZONE CONFERENCE-ANNANDALE & MT VERNON 4-2010

Our second zone conference of this transfer cycle was held on April 11, 2010 with the Annandale and Mt Vernon Zones. The zone leaders are Elders Karren and Cuevas in the Annandale zone and Elders Holmstead and Wallace in the Mt Vernon zone. The theme for this conference was LISTENING TO THE SPIRIT. It was a great conference, very spiritual. We began with President Albright who got everyone excited about the theme and motivated them to do their best.
Then Elders Karren and Cuevas talked about Qualification for having the Companionship of the Holy Ghost. They used D&C 121 and had us list Do & Don't listed in the section. It was very effective. Then it was my turn. I was assigned "The role of the Holy Ghost in Conversion". I have the tendency to use the scriptures a lot in my teaching. We read scriptures that tell us how essential the Holy Ghost is to conversion. In fact without it you can't be converted. We have a really great discussion about it. The missionaries had great comments and insights into this idea.
Elders Shupe and Sis Gwynn gave talks on the Mission and Power of the Holy Ghost.
Zone Leaders Holmstead and Wallace gave a presentation on Effectively Preparing a member for an Investigator Lesson. Great job.
Sisters Alvarado and Funch gave a presentation on Creating and Environment that is Condusive to the Spirit.
We recieved instructions from the office elders, and Elder Bryson, and Elder Holmgren and then we broke for lunch.

After lunch we had a beautiful musical number by Elder Wilkinson who played a piano solo.
The Assistant led us in the wonderful and spiritual Skills Practice on how to listen to the spirit during a lesson when asking probing and meaningful questions. Letting the Holy Ghost give answers . It was exceptional.
President Albright gave closing remarks with a great power point presentation. The day was very spiritual and I think everyone went away feeling spiritually fed.

This is a combined zone picture. Both Annandale and Mt Vernon are pictured here.

MOTHER'S DAY

My sweet kids all remembered me on Mothers Day. They are always so thoughtful. I got phone calls from all of them. and cute homemade cards from grandkids. And both my boys sent me flowers. Good Sons. And the Assistants and Office elders brought me flowers too. I got lots of nice phone calls from missionaries. I felt really loved today. Thanks everyone. Flowers from the Assistants and office elders.

LUCKY ZONE LEADERS COUNCIL

Zone leader council is always uplifting. This was a fun one because we had a lot of new young in the mission zone leaders. I think it was fun for them to see how the mission is run and how Pres. Albright really holds councils so they can learn how to council together and make decisions for the mission. He really values their opinions and ideas and lets them express them freely and completely before decisions are made. This is a great young group and they accomplished a lot. GOOD JOB ELDERS.Included: Pres and Sis Albright, not in any order because I can't see it close enough:
Elders Bell, Sill, Williams, Simmons, Brogan, Karren, Sackett, Lee, Jones, Neilson, Lee, Johnson, Lewis, Caresia, Wallace, Holmstead, Fukui, and Jeppesen
