Zone Confernce for Ashburn and Centreville Zones 10-09

We had to hold the Ashburn and Centreville zone conferences together. This was because when the Centreville Conference was scheduled we had so many sick missionaries that we choose to cancel it and combine with another zone. It was very fun with the large group and we had a wonderful learning time. I got lots of pictures of both zones during activites and lunch, however I only got a zone picture of the Ashburn Zone. Sorry to Centreville. Next time I'll do better. The Centreville Zone leaders are Elders Ross and Holmstead. The zone members include: Elders Ika, Gillihan, Knechtel, Ockler, Randall, Rusk, Strong, Thompson, Brown, Hutchinson, Walker, Grundvig, Johnson, Cortez, Searcy, and Baraza. There are no sisters in this Zone.

The Ashburn Zone Leaders are Elders Metcalf and Tye. The members include: Elders Hunsaker, Eppson, Wilkey, Scott, Lassen, Yazzie, Mechling, Perkins, Lee, and Robbins, and Sisters Bagley, Bennett, Carpenter, and Banks. It has been fun to continue with the theme of the FLAG OF 400. We have had a good time getting the different zones to sign the names of their investigators to get baptized before the end of the year and the flag is filling up. It is really motivational for the missionaries.

Zone Conference McLean 10-09

Zone Conference in McLean Zone was as wonderful as the other conferences. However, I was not feeling well and forgot the camera and we only got this one picture. Sorry everyone.

The Zone Leaders are Elders Sill and Esplin and include: Elders Larsen, Miller, Laughren, Scoble, Allen, Page, Bullock, Dunn, Hall, and Nickle. Also Sisters Jacobson, Lau, Bay, Hahn, Albarado, and Ferry. Also our wonderful senior couple, the Kellers.

Second SISTERS SEMINAR 10-16-09

Our second Sisters Seminar was held a week later on Mon the 26th of October. We had a wonderful lunch with homemade soup and rolls and lots of fresh fruits and salads and homemade cheesecake. We filled both dinning tables this time and fortunate to have Sis Cordner from the office be with us this time. This group included: Sisters Arnett, Murray, Banks, Carpenter, Bertucci, Larsen, Bagley, Bennett, Downey, Knutsen, and Skipper. Also our Sister leaders Jordan and Glauser were there. This seminar was also wonderful and filled with leadership and the spirit. We felt bad that we neglected to get a group photo. But we have lots of good candids.

SISTERS SEMINARS--NOVEMBER 2009

We did such a wonderful and spiritual thing with the sister missionaries. We held 2 Sister Seminars. Each one included half of the sisters.

President Albright called Sister Jordan and Sister Glauser to be the Exchange specialists for the sister missionaries. This is a calling that alot of the other mission Presidents told us they were using. This is having a Sister as a leader to organize exchanges among Sisters. From this calling sprang the idea of having a seminar for just the Sisters where we could motivate and train the sisters. Both of these seminars were extremely successful.

I am always so impressed when we have Zone leader and district leader trainings and these Elders are such powerful leaders and excel at presenting issues and leading councils and training. Well I was just as impressed with the Sisters. They were so strong and so tender and led councils to help them as sisters in reaching their goals and working together as companionships in love and harmony. I know the sisters loved getting together and feeling of each others love and spirit. So often in the mission field the sisters are spread far apart and don't get the interaction that the Elders get with one another. And so it was a real treat for them to spend a half day together. We had a nice luncheon with each of the seminars also.

This first seminar was held on October 18 and included Sisters: Johnson, Funch, Ferry, Alvarado, Lau, Glauser, Baxter, LeSueur, Bay, Jacobsen, Hahn, and Jordan. What a fun bunch of Sisters.

Mt Vernon Stake Conference 11-17-09

We enjoyed a wonderful stake conference at the Mt. Vernon Stake. Elder Matthew Eyring of the Seventy was the visiting General Authority. He is the son of the Apostle-Elder Eyring.

We attended the evening session and were really uplifted by the wonderful talks and music.

Then on Sun the 18th, we were invited to speak. This is a great stake, with great strength and leadership. The Stake President, Bill Nixon is a dynamic leader. (His sister, Joni Robison lives in Las Vegas and was Pres. Albrights' stake Young Women's Pres. when he was Stake President.) It is fun to find all these connections. Sister Nixon is a wonderful and kind sister. She gave us the most beautiful and enormous boquet of flowers to take to the mission home. President Albright also spoke at the Saturday afternoon session of Priesthood and I met him there and we had a lovely dinner with all their leaders and Pres. Eyring. The whole conference was inspiring and uplifting.
