Because the traffic was incredibly heavy we didn't dare go too far between baptisms. The 2:30 and 6:00 baptisms were both in the same chapel. And so in between the two baptisms we drove through the historic area of Stafford and visisted a lovely old cemetary with grave markers dating back to Joseph Smiths time. The old church was also beautiful. It is called the Aquai Church and was used by the Confederate army during the civil war. The sign says that the first Roman Catholic English settlement was at this site. Fleeing political and religious turmoil in Maryland, Giles Brent and his two sisters established two plantations called Peace and Retirement on the creek in 1647. So much history in this area. It's so intersting and I love stopping and seeing it all and reading all the little signs and markers.
