AMAZING---THE AIR & SPACE MUSEUM

We were able to visit the Dulles Air and Space Museum today on our way back from meetings in Woodbridge. It was phenomenal. It is so big that it is hard to describe. The smithsonian air and space became too small to house all the aircraft and so this second facility was built. This one is now the bigger museum and is full of 100's of aircraft. There is a tower that is like a airport tower and looks directly at one of Dulles Airport runways and you can go in the tower and learn about controllers jobs and watch planes take off and land.
This museum houses some of the most famous of aircraft. The stealth bomber is unbelievably large. The Concorde is here. Space craft from some of the first flights and shuttles, like the Enterprise and the landing modules. The Enola Gay is also housed here. It is the plane that dropped the bombs on Japan.
Even the little planes are fascinating. All of them have explanations and history and you could literally spend many days here. The Entrance

There were probably 100 helicopters

The space Shuttle, this is the only way I could get a whole picture. Look how small the people are compared to it

All kinds of satellites and explanations about how they work and the history of them

This is the Concorde. I couldn't find a place to get the whole thing in a picture.
