MISSON HOME FIRESIDE
We had a wonderful fireside at the mission home tonight, July 26, 2009. We invite a recent convert or another speaker to come and share their testimony and story and the missionaries can attend with an investigator or a new member. We had over 70 people attend. There were about 4 people with baptism dates planned, about 20 missionaries and a dozen investigators and member friends of the investigators. The office elders, Assistants, and President Albright's councilors. A new convert of about 6 months, Tom Robison spoke. It was very touching as he told his conversion story and is now engaged to another new convert and they are planning to be married in the DC Temple in January. He works for the government and has been to many places in the world and spoken to people about the gospel. President Albright spoke also and talked about enduring through trials. After the fireside, a new convert from Cambodia who was put in a political prison at 13 yrs old and tortured came up and said that the fireside was exactly what he had needed to hear. We had a 5 young women sing and they were great. Then we had goodies that I had been cooking all day. We met alot of wonderful people from all over the world, many nationalities. The mission in incredibly diverse and it is so fun to meet people with such different and wonderful backgrounds. In one of our districts there are over 130 languages spoken.
