We had another wonderful fireside on Sun. evening at the mission home. We at about 60 people there, so it was pretty crowded. We had a great new investigator as our speaker. His name is Jeff Gaddy. He has a remarkable story. Grew up in a poor family, raised by his mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Never played a sport. In Jr. high took a PSAT test. His score got him a scholarship to a prestigious private school. His mother drove him both ways an hour and a half each before she went to work and after. He had to go to school 2 hours early and then stay 4 hours after waiting for his mother to come and get him. He saw some boys playing football in the field by the school and was introduced to the sport. He quickly became the star of both the football and track teams, winning all American honors in track and all state in football. He then won a scholarship to play football for the Naval academy where he was a candidate for all American honors before sustaining a concussion. He graduated in engineering and joined the marines spending two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
About 2 months ago, just a he was arranging to move into a secured building, two of our Sisters knocked on his door and he accepted the invitation to hear them. He said the Gospel has brought so much happiness to his life. He is a great example to all of us. In the pictures you can see many of our missionaries with the investigators they brought to hear Mr. Gaddy's testimony and story. We had two marvelous musical lnumbers: Sis Ferry played a medley on the cello and Sis. Capps sang "I heard Him Come". President Burton also spoke and is a dynamite speaker. It is so fun to have these fireside and meet all the new investigators.
