DEPARTING DINNER & FIRESIDE FEB 2010
On Thurs. evening, the missionaries drive from the temple to the mission home for a departing banquet and then it is off to the chapel for a departing missionary fireside. This is a wonderful evening we get to spend with our missionaries who will be leaving much too soon. We had 28 for dinner-- ribs and the works. This fireside is such a special time. Anyone who is connected to the departing missionaries in anyway- investigators, ward members, new converts, etc can come and get to hear the missionaries final testimonys. It is a spiritually powerful meeting and very well attended. The missionaries who spoke at this fireside were: Elder Brown, Ray, Packer, Smith, Elder and Sister Peacock, Elder Turley, Sister Carpenter, Elder Wilkes, Tye, Newton, and Ross. There was a special musical number by Elders Newton, Wilkes, Brown, Johnson, and Turley.
Practicing for the musical number they will be singing at the fireside this evening.

Thanks again for your posts and pictures. We were delighted to greet our son, Elder Wilkes, at the airport and have been savoring every minute since his arrival back to our home. Many many thanks for caring for him while he was in the Washington DC South Mission!
