FREDERICKSBURG HISTORICAL SITES

This old cemetary and church were just outside of Stafford. Some of the graves dated back to the 1700.s. There is an incredible amount of history in this mission.
This is the location of the first Roman Catholic Settlement in Virginia.
The footings of the original church can be seen in the last photo.
Virginia has 100's of road markers like the one in the last picture that tell about the history of the location.
We picked up a wonderful book that lists all the markers and tells about them. So when we pass one driving, we just turn to the number and read the description.
