ZONE CONF - MCLEAN & OAKTON

Our first zone conference was held at the Oakton Stake Center for the Oakton and McLean Zones. The ZL's are Elders McGill and Sackett inMcLean and Elders Brogan and Cuevas in the Oakton Zone. This was a fun Zone Conference. Pres. Albright opened with a great presentation He got the missionaries all pumped up. Showed them lots of videos from the new church web site "I'm a Mormon" stories. He showed them videos of the jamboree and told them stories from the LDS booth. He told about statistics and how we are doing as a mission. We are #1 in the NE area for baptisms per companionship (tied with NY) Then I introduced our theme for the day "WE INVITE, THEY COMMIT, WE FOLLOW UP" Our emphasis is to learn how to get investigators to make and keep committments. I focused on our task of "crying repentance" ro people. PMG tells us the when you invite people to make & keep commitments we are inviting them to repent by changing. President followed with the theme of "keeping commitments or covenants and the blessings that come from it"
The Zone Leaders each gave presentations and they were superb.
The Assistants led the Skills Practice. We had a musical # by Sisters Murray, Balsley and Elders Butcher and Hougaard. They sang, "I'm trying to be like Jesus".
I gave health instructions: 72 hour kits, safe tick removal & lyme disease, & the importance of drinking lots of water-dehydration.
Elder Holmgren gave the car report and awards.
Elder Searcy gave a departing testimony.
